FWIW, it's possible to implement this by doing the below:

tasks.register("publishToCentral") {
  if(project.version.toString().endsWith("-SNAPSHOT")) {
    dependsOn("publishAggregationToCentralPortalSnapshots")
  } else {
    dependsOn("publishAggregationToCentralPortal")
  }
}

As explained in #63 (comment) and since there is a workaround, I prefer not to commit too much in that direction for now and preserve option value. We can always add this later down the road if needed.

@aSemy nothing will work if the -SNAPSHOT status isn't consistent accross projects. You can't publish a zip with -SNAPSHOT to the portal and I don't think you can release releases to the snapshots either.
