.desktop link opens unexpected application

 * Is issue with desktop or windowed nemo? - both
 * Distribution - (Mint 20 Cinnamon)
 * Graphics hardware *and* driver used
 * 64 bit

Issue
normally web links (in *.desktop files) are opened in web browser.
if the web link points to a php file which actually has the ".php" in it's url, then some other program (xed) is opened to "edit" the resource.

Steps to reproduce
visit https://www.chibiakumas.com/z80/Gameboy.php
drag&drop the link from the address input field onto the desktop
click on the link

Expected behaviour
open the website in web browser
