### Linux Kernel CVEs

The **Linux Kernel CVEs** source reads the Linux kernel CVE team's own
repository, `git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/security/vulns.git`, over the git
protocol. Its records are published under the
[CVE Terms of Use](https://www.cve.org/Legal/TermsOfUse). Each published CVE
becomes one advisory, with the kernel CNA's CVSS score, the affected kernel
version ranges, and the stable releases that carry the fix.

- **The first poll** downloads the repository's current contents (about
70 MB) and imports the published CVEs from the last two CVE years. It can take
a few minutes, so the source ships with a 300-second poll timeout.
- **Later polls** download only what changed since the previous successful poll,
usually a few kilobytes.
- Your instance needs outbound HTTPS access to `git.kernel.org`.
- The kernel's CVE records carry no publication date. CVEs that arrive in later
polls are dated by when they landed in the repository; CVEs imported by the
first poll have no publication date.
