[FlightRPC][CI][C++][ODBC] ODBC tests are currently failing on main with a segfault #54638

Open

Description

@raulcd

Describe the bug, including details regarding any error messages, version, and platform.

Several OBC jobs are currently failing on main:

I haven't explored all the failures but on the ODBC Linux I can see a core dump we should investigate:

    I might be able to take a look during the next few days but I can't investigate it right now.

    Linux ODBC:
    I've raised #54645 for the Linux failure in StatementTest/1.TestChangingAppRowDescriptorRebindsColumns.

    The GRPC_CALL_ERROR_TOO_MANY_OPERATIONS errors appear because the failing test is rerun, and more test runs cause more GRPC calls to be produced.

    Once the TestChangingAppRowDescriptorRebindsColumns failure is fixed, the Linux ODBC workflow should pass. If not, we can investigate further.

    macOS ODBC:
    The universal macOS PKG CIs are skipped due to failures in the ARM64, and macOS-related failures are in ARM64 with the same root cause. At first glance, it seems to be introduced by brew upgrading OpenSSL from 3 to 4 and bundled gRPC v1.76.0 doesn't compile with OpenSSL 4 yet. Will continue looking into this.

    Found the announcement that the default OpenSSL version will be updated from 3 to 4 on ARM64 macOS 26 in November: actions/runner-images#14856
