The GITHUB_TOKEN defaults to read-only; contents: write is required to push the version bump commit and the annotated tag back to the repo.
Centralizes the Node.js version (bumped to 22, since 20 is reaching EOL) so workflows and local environments stay in sync via a single source of truth.
