Pull request created by GitRepo.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • Updates
    • KDE live sessions now use the updated live keyring package. XivaStudio continues to use its existing live keyring.
    • Community testing images use the community keyring, whether the package list specifies the current or former BigLinux keyring name.
  • Documentation
    • Clarified which live keyring package XivaStudio uses.

…Studio unchanged)

big-keyring-livecd takes the place of biglinux-livecd-key (same files,
new name). The live keyring moves from sources/common/Live-add to each
edition: big-keyring-livecd in kde, and XivaStudio keeps
biglinux-livecd-key, so its list is the same as before. The generated
kde list follows.

With COMMUNITY_TESTING the engine swaps either name for
community-livecd-key. The live list test compares package names without
version constraints: biglinux-livecd>=... had broken it.

📝 Walkthrough

Edition package lists now use the current KDE keyring package and retain the former name for XivaStudio. Community-testing builds replace either name with community-livecd-key.

Changes: Live keyring package handling

Layer / File(s) Summary
Edition package lists
sources/common/Live-add, sources/editions/kde/Live-add, sources/editions/xivastudio/Live-add, biglinux/kde/Packages-Live, biglinux/xivastudio/Packages-Live
The KDE lists use big-keyring-livecd. The XivaStudio lists retain biglinux-livecd-key; its package list also places qefientrymanager before the keyring.
Community-testing keyring replacement
build-iso/build-iso.sh, build-iso/tests/test_engine_community_testing.py, build-iso/README.md
The build replaces either BigLinux keyring name with community-livecd-key, or adds the community keyring if neither name is present. The tests cover enabled and disabled modes and both keyring names. The documentation describes the package names used for the general case and XivaStudio.

Change: Bug fix

Suggested reviewers: bigbruno

Merge Risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7924f

A custom live-package list with a similarly prefixed package may be rewritten to an unintended package name, potentially disrupting that build. The issue is limited to those entries; correct the name match before relying on such lists.

Security architecture risk: 🔵 Low · up to 7924f

The change preserves opt-in community testing and required package signatures. No introduced security defect was established. Residual risk concerns whether the selected keyring packages contain the intended trusted keys; package-name checks alone cannot establish that.

Retained concerns
No architecture-level concerns identified.

Security review details

Security Blast Radius

  • inferred — The default package rename propagates into KDE live images. The compatibility rewrite serves community-testing live images for both current editions. Because the selected package provisions live-session trust, its effects are image-wide, not confined to the tests. The inspected repository generator enumerates only KDE and XivaStudio.

Trust Boundaries and Controls

  • observed — The inspected production path selects profiles and community-testing mode from build inputs. Community trust remains an explicit operator choice; preparation imports community key material under that choice, and generated repository sections retain required package signatures. The changed matching expression is applied to profile package names, not a newly exposed network request.

Hardening Proposals

  • proposed — Before releasing affected images, validate the selected packages' trusted fingerprints and exercise acceptance of an intended signature and rejection of an untrusted signature in a booted live session. This would resolve the trust-content gap left by package-name assertions.

🎯 Functional Correctness | 🟡 Minor | ⚡ Quick win

Match the complete keyring package name.

If a custom Packages-Live lists big-keyring-livecd-extra, \b matches before the hyphen. The substitution changes that entry to community-livecd-key-extra, and the post-edit check misses the incorrect entry. This can leave the build with an unintended package name. Match only a line ending, whitespace, or a version operator after either keyring name. (gnu.org)
