Downgrading back to 8.56.0 got it working again

Thanks for opening this issue @kevinm416 are you running mixed versions of the SDK by any chance?
This sounds like you're running an older version of Sentry core dependency.

I'll see if there's a check I can run for other transitive sentry dependencies coming in from something else. The only sentry dependency I declare is io.sentry:sentry-spring-boot-4:8.56.0.

@kevinm416 I was able to reproduce this by using mixed SDK versions (8.56.0 of core and 8.58.0 of spring boot).
Unfortunately our mixed version detection doesn't seem to kick in in some cases. Could you please tell us more about how you're building and deploying your application? Are you using bootRun, bootJar or something else? How are you firing up that application?

It was the sentry agent jar that's supplied separately. Thanks for the pointer @adinauer!
It's a bit hard to find, because the agent jar doesn't exist (at least for our build) through gradle, so you have to know to look at the Docker build to find it.
